The Afghan Community of New Jersey has united with heartfelt dedication to support newly arrived Afghan families in central Jersey. Though these families are still finding their footing in their new homes, we are deeply grateful to have been able to give them a strong start with the essential tools for their success. The journey ahead is challenging, but together, we’re making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Building Long-lasting Bondswith the Afghans of NJ
The Afghan community of NJ is an established non-profit (est. 2023) that supports the vibrant society of Afghans in the NJ area. The team weaves together the stories, culture, and experiences of the Afghan community, with a rich and diverse heritage that spans generations, the Afghan community of New Jersey provides a unique window into the lives and aspirations of the Afghan diaspora in the Garden State. We celebrate New Jersey Afghan residents' contribution, resilience, and dreams, fostering a deeper understanding of their dynamic presence within the state's multicultural tapestry.
At the heart of our nonprofit is a dedication to humanitarian efforts. We work tirelessly to provide assistance to Afghan families in need, especially those facing challenges related to resettlement, education, and healthcare. Through partnerships with local agencies and volunteers, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families within our community.

How you can help
The Afghan Community of New Jersey is currently raising funds for the displaced Afghans who were forced out of Pakistan in the recent months.
The implementation of an order by Pakistan's interim government is compelling hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees to depart the country. Approximately 1.7 million individuals, out of the estimated 4 million Afghans residing in Pakistan, are targeted by this "repatriation" initiative.
Across Pakistan's provinces, a network of "holding centers" for detained migrants has been established, contributing to an increase in police harassment and abuse against Afghans living in the country. The number of Afghan refugees returning to a homeland that some are unfamiliar with has reached close to 200,000, with this figure continuing to rise. The impacted Afghan families are experiencing hunger, violence at the hands of the Pakistani soldiers, uncomfortable and uninhabitable living situations.

Coming together as an Afghan community in New Jersey holds immense importance, particularly in the context of the Afghan diaspora. This unity not only helps preserve our rich cultural heritage but also serves as a pillar of support for our fellow Afghans who have resettled in a foreign land, often leaving behind their homeland and loved ones. In a time of uncertainty and change, a tightly-knit Afghan community provides a sense of belonging, comfort, and solidarity. It fosters cultural exchange, enabling the younger generation to connect with their roots and learn from the experiences of their elders.
Additionally, as we navigate the challenges of integration and adaptation, our collective strength allows us to advocate for our community's needs and concerns, ensuring that the voices of Afghan-Americans are heard and respected. By coming together, we can create a supportive network that not only enriches our lives but also contributes to the greater diversity and unity of New Jersey's vibrant mosaic of communities.

Founded in 2023, the members and volunteers at The Afghan Community of New Jersey is a non-profit organization and has the goal of making a tremendous impact on the lives of all New Jersey Afghans and beyond.

From Union Civil War Veteran, Mohammed Khan (John Ammahaie) who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg & is buried in Brooklyn - to Master Fard Muhammad the founder of the Nation of Islam, a movement that gave rise to Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali and countless other muslim Americans, Afghan Americans have an vibrant & deep seated history in the cultural mosaic that is America, especially in the tristate area.
